Iconic dishes include Wiener Schnitzel, a breaded and fried veal cutlet, and Tafelspitz, a slow-boiled beef dish traditionally served with horseradish and apple sauce. Austrian pastries, especially Apfelstrudel (apple strudel) and Sachertorte (a chocolate cake with apricot jam), are world-famous. The country’s coffee culture also plays a central role, with traditional coffeehouses serving up Vienna’s famous blends alongside pastries. Austrian wines, particularly from regions like Wachau and Burgenland, complement the nation’s cuisine, creating a rich, fulfilling gastronomic experience.

Die österreichische Küche spiegelt die reiche Geschichte und kulturelle Vielfalt des Landes wider und vereint Einflüsse aus der deutschen, ungarischen und italienischen Küche. Im Mittelpunkt der österreichischen Ernährung stehen herzhafte, nahrhafte Gerichte mit einem starken Fokus auf Fleisch wie Schwein, Rind und Geflügel. Zu den bekanntesten Gerichten gehören Wiener Schnitzel, ein panierter und gebratener Kalbsschnitzel, und Tafelspitz, ein langsam gekochtes Rindfleischgericht, das traditionell mit Meerrettich und Apfelmus serviert wird.
