Traditional Polish cuisine draws on rich Old Polish traditions, based on natural, local products and recipes passed down from generation to generation. The most famous dishes include dumplings, bigos, żurek, red borsch, cabbage rolls, roasted meats and game dishes, which have been an important element of Polish culinary culture for centuries. The diversity of regions means that each part of the country has its own specialties - in Podhale they serve oscypka and sour cream, in Silesia a roll with Silesian dumplings and blue cabbage, in Kashubia fish dishes, and in Podlasie dishes inspired by borderland cuisine. The tradition of Polish cuisine is complemented by desserts such as cheesecake, apple pie, poppy cake, donuts, faworki or sękacz, which have been accompanying holidays and family celebrations for years, emphasising the richness of Polish flavours and customs.
