Bolivian cuisine is as diverse as its landscapes, with influences from indigenous cultures, Spanish colonization, and neighboring countries. The high-altitude regions, such as the Andes, offer hearty dishes like salteñas (savory pastries filled with meat, vegetables, and spices) and pique macho (a spicy mix of beef, sausage, and potatoes). In the lowlands, tropical ingredients like plantains and yucca are more common, with dishes such as locro (a thick stew made with corn, potatoes, and meats) and mocochinchi (a refreshing drink made from dried peaches). Bolivia’s food reflects its rich cultural history and the varied ecosystems that shape its cuisine.

La cocina boliviana es tan diversa como sus paisajes, con influencias de las culturas indígenas, la colonización española y los países vecinos. Las regiones de gran altitud, como los Andes,
ofrecen platos sustanciosos como las salteñas(empanadas rellenas de carne, verduras y especias) y el pique macho (una mezcla picante de carne de res, salchicha y papas). En las tierras bajas, los ingredientes tropicales como los plátanos y la yuca son más comunes, con
platos como el locro (un guiso espeso de maíz, papas y carnes) y el mocochinchi (una
bebida refrescante hecha de duraznos secos). La comida de Bolivia refleja su rica historia cultural y los diversos ecosistemas que influyen en su cocina.
