The cuisine of Lesotho is hearty and simple, rooted in traditional Basotho culture and influenced by neighboring South Africa. Staple foods include maize, sorghum, beans, and leafy greens. One of the most common dishes is papa, a thick maize porridge often served with vegetables, meat, or a tomato-based sauce. Other popular foods include moroho (cooked greens), likhobe (bean and grain stew), and grilled meats. Food is often cooked over an open fire and shared among family, reflecting the communal values of Basotho society.

La cuisine du Lesotho est simple et nourrissante, profondément ancrée dans la culture traditionnelle basotho, avec des influences venant de l’Afrique du Sud voisine. Les aliments de base comprennent le maïs, le sorgho, les haricots et les légumes-feuilles. Le plat le plus courant est le papa, une bouillie épaisse de maïs servie avec des légumes, de la viande ou une sauce à la tomate. On trouve aussi le moroho (légumes verts cuits), le likhobe (ragoût de haricots et de céréales), ainsi que des viandes grillées.
